Patricia is happy to give presentations to classroom-sized or larger assemblies. It will be up to each school to decide the break down of ages. The most appropriate age group for her children’s books is early
elementary/kindergarten through sixth grade.
A typical school visit consists of two sessions for thirty to forty-five minutes to be determined during the booking process with each school. There will be plenty of time for the students to ask questions and it is encouraged that they do so.
Patricia’s fee for the day is $200.00 within most of Nebraska and Colorado. Some travel expenses may apply for schools at greater distances but may be split among several schools booking her during the same time frame.
EACH SCHOOL THAT BOOKS A VISIT WILL RECEIVE ONE FREE COPY FOR THEIR SCHOOL LIBRARY.
CAN MORE THAN TWO SESSIONS BE BOOKED FOR ONE SCHOOL?
On occasion she will give more than two presentations in one day at one school, but additional fees will apply.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE VISIT?
Patricia begins by chatting for a few moments with the children. Then she reads her first children’s book, THE CHRISTMAS WESTIE to the group, stopping to explain about the story and the development of the photographs to go along with the story. She gives an entertaining insider’s view to creating the book and the magic preformed on the computer to enhance or correct the photography. (Sometimes a surprise visit is made by “Tucker”, her Westie, who models for the books and thrills the kids with his appearance).
CAN LIBRARIES, BOOKSTORES OR READERS GROUPS BOOK VISITS?
Yes, Patricia is more than happy to speak to reader’s groups, bookstores and libraries. She is also available to speak about her Elusive Clue Mystery Series to adults. Occasionally, her sleuth, Detective Glen Karst goes on tour with her and the audience has the pleasure of meeting and talking with him as well. (see reader’s groups page)
IF THE SCHOOLS ARE SMALL CAN THE VISIT BE SPLIT?
Yes, if the schools are small they can either combine two schools at one building for the sessions or each school can have one session and each school is responsible for half of the fee and splitting the travel expenses if any apply.
WILL SHE HAVE BOOKS FOR SALE AND AUTOGRAPHING?
If you would like to order books 2-3 weeks ahead of the presentation she will be sure to have them with her when she arrives. Of course, books can be ordered all year long from this website. She has learned that the majority of the children want a copy of the book to remember the event and share the stories involved in making the book with their family and friends for years to come.
WHAT SHOULD THE FACILITY PROVIDE?
A chair, (or two if Tucker makes an appearance), and a table to hold her materials. She will also need the appropriate information to find the school, a staff person to usher her to the correct room or rooms and parking directions.
WHO WILL HANDLE THE SALE OF HER BOOKS?
Patricia and her assistant will handle the sale of the books on site. Each school who books a visit will be sent a packet with instructions for sending order letters home with the students, order sheets for each teacher and a money envelope for the office to collect the orders from the teachers to give to Patricia at the end of her visit. She will stay after the presentation to autograph the pre-ordered books as well as any new books that are sold at the presentation.
HOW DO WE BOOK A VISIT?
To book a visit click the “contact us” button on this website with your contact information and the approximate dates you have in mind and someone will respond promptly to discuss the visit.
WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE?
Payment for the presentation and books ordered or sold at the presentation are due at the end of the presentation. You may pay Patricia or her assistant. Remember, additional books can be ordered at any time.
